Mandu - The place I love to visit many times

Mandu called a ruined city is 60 kms from Indore in the
Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.
All the ruins of beautiful structures in this area are
surrounded by the Bhil Tribe.
The picture above is of Ashrafi Mahal with
Jama Masjid in the background.

Again it is Ashrafi Mahal and Jama Masjid
in the Centre of the Picture

Entrance of Ashrafi Mahal.

Jama Masjid the oldest Masjid dates from 1405 is an excellent example of Pashtun Architecture.

Hoshangshah Tomb.
I heard that Hoshagshah build his Tomb in his lifetime fearing
that his sons may not built after his death.
It is called the first marble structure in the country and
also an inspiration to the Architect of Taj Mahal
who spend six months to study it before making a plan for
Taj Mahal.

Courtyard of Hoshang Shah Tomb.

Baaj Bahadur place.
There is story about Rani Roopmati and Baaz Bahadur

These are the escape routes in the basement of one of the structures.

This is the ceiling of the bathroom which is used for
steam bath by the Queens.
This bathroom has the channels made for hot and cold water.

This structure is called Hindola Mahal because of its slanting pillars.

Jahaj Mahal.  It is built between the two lakes.
Gulzar picturised few shots of his movies Kinara on Jahaj Mahal.

Inside Jama Masjid

There is a romance in the air of Mandu.
Its rain is so mystic.
I love to visit Mandu any Number of times
