Jaiselmer - The Golden City a city of Rajputs.
Ruled by Bhatti Rajputs.
Jaiselmer, one of important land routes for trade in ancient times was the last princely state
to sign the treaty with British.
The story goes back to Bhatti Rajputs,
some of them later on migrated to Talwandi and
Larkana and settled there with the name Bhutto.
Jaiselmer city woven intricately in the Yellow stone,
the Jaiselmer stone,
sitting on the borders of India and Pakistan amidst the scorching heat of Thar desert.
The film Nanhe Jaiselmer and one of Amir Khan's movies was shot here in the above location.

Lovely jharokha in the palace...
Jaiselmer the princely state of this Western side of our country have its Fort made without water, with low ceilings and magnificently carved walls.
We were told by our Autorickshaw driver cum guide that the criminals from the neighbouring states were left here to die in the scorching heat of the desert and also there was scaricity of water.
The quote used for them was
- JAA SALE MAR -
The poetry carved in Yellow stones
leave eyes and mouth wide open and
then lips shrinking into WOW

Every body talks of frescos of Michelanglo,
so much is written about those frescos,
sadly no attention is paid to the majestic frescos in our country.....
...these are incomparable........
The carved Jhrokhas of the corridors and rooms of the Jaiselmer Palace, speak the glory of the past ...
Trip to Jaiselmer was not a JAA SALE MAR,
but it was PADHARO SAA...AAVO JI MHARE DES...
The tradition of ear piercing in men is found in Rajputs only.
Here I heard the name of Gulabo the queen of desert folklore,
for the first time.
Gulabo appeared in the Bigg Boss season 5 and couldn't stand the politics of Bigg Boss and evicted from the Bigg Boss
within few weeks.
Beautiful pictures, dear girl, evocative of a resplendant past.
ReplyDeleteThat past however, is an extreme example of the feudal system, is it not the arid State of Rajasthan that has the highest number of marvellous forts, still standing ....
For such stupendous riches to have accumulated, were not crimes committed in due proportion, were not the people taxed to death and comely girls royally appropriated, destined for a long life within the confines of those magnificent halls with just the jharokha to look at the changing seasons ..
